Umbwe Route - Kilimanjaro – 5/6 days
Umbwe route is one of the shortest and thus one of the fastest ways to get to the glaciers. It is well known for its caves, which can be visited during the ascent. However it poses a challenge, the hazard of crossing the Western Breach, a very volatile area with frequent landslides. Due to their demanding conditions and arduousness, it is one of the least used routes by hikers who want to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro. Therefore, this route is not done often. Umbwe route, like Machame and Lemosho as are described herein, reaches the top of the Kibo crater at Stella Point, while Marangu or Rongai do it at Gilman's Point.
