Mafia is the first Marine National Park in the country, an ideal destination for diving enthusiasts, with small hotels that all offer a range of diving activities. Its beaches are in general less impressive than Zanzibar’s, and at the same time is smaller and much less touristic.
It is the perfect destination for travelers who want to stay away from crowded beaches. The downside of this small island is its scarce flight connection with Arusha, with no direct flights. All flights have stopover in Dar es Salaam, the Tanzanian capital. On top of that, these aren’t budget flights, which limits its accessibility.
